Historical Items and Furnishings

Although our present building was constructed in 2005, Grace Lutheran Church has a past that goes back over 125 years.  As you walk around Grace, you might encounter some of the items that reflect this history – they are listed below.

Communion Ware

These items are thought to be the original communion ware.  The set includes a covered wafer storage container, a wafer tray, and a wine pitcher.

This communion chalice was used by Pastor Mary Ronning in 1999 to practice the intinction form of communion in which the communion wafer is dipped into the communion wine.  This tradition did not last and the chalice became a past piece of history.

 Church Art

Numerous wall hangings “grace” the walls of Grace.  The banner of God’s hand touching humanity was painted on canvas by Susan and Nancy Longfors.  The quilted banners were all created by Judy Tabbut and commemorate God’s hand of grace from heaven, the nativity of Jesus, the cross of Jesus, and the resurrection of Jesus.
